JAKARTA – PT Kantara Indonesia Group (KIG) has taken a strategic step to expand its global business network by exploring collaboration opportunities in Russia. Participating in the Made in Moscow program at the Moscow Export Center on Friday (Sep 11, 2026), the Kantara delegation aims to adopt high-level technology while strengthening cross-border supply chain logistics.

The business visit, initiated upon the invitation of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Moscow, was led directly by the President Director of Kantara Group, I Made Nugraha Jaya Wardana, who also serves as the Secretary General of the Association of Indonesian Energy, Mineral, and Coal Suppliers (ASPEBINDO). The management team accompanying the delegation included Kantara Group President Commissioner Heru Sambodo, Director of PT Georama Karya Indonesia I Putu Yoga Sanjaya, and President Director of PT ACSL Kantara Global Logistik Firaz Bestly.

Facilitated by the Moscow City Government, the Kantara delegation was introduced to a number of reputable Russian business entities, particularly in the information technology and manufacturing sectors.

"We were granted direct access to meet Moscow-based companies across various industries. All of them are reputable entities, opening up vast opportunities for future collaboration," Made stated in Jakarta on Thursday (Sep 17, 2026). He emphasized that Kantara focuses on a two-way partnership model that fulfills the industrial needs of both nations, rather than a one-way trade relationship.

Mapping Technology Transfer for the Domestic Market

The meeting with Russian entrepreneurs was utilized by Kantara Group to map out advanced technologies with the potential to be implemented in Indonesia.

As a business group expanding across geoscience, energy, mining, environmental restoration, and logistics, Kantara relies on its business unit, PT Georama Karya Indonesia, to assess the suitability of these technologies. PT Georama has been managing geoscience and energy engineering projects from the permitting stage to field execution.

"Technologies that are well-implemented in Russia have great potential to be adopted and applied in Indonesia. Kantara serves as a trusted strategic partner to collaborate in deploying these technologies domestically," Made explained.

Armed with an understanding of national industrial challenges and demands, Kantara Group hopes to contribute positively to strengthening this synergy for mutual progress. Made added that Kantara remains highly open to learning and collaborating to bring relevant and beneficial technologies to advance Indonesia's industrial sector.

The Made in Moscow program, managed by the Moscow Export Center (MEC), is designed to bring together high-tech manufacturers from the Russian capital. Throughout 2026, MEC recorded having facilitated its business players across more than 60 international agendas in 25 countries.

Full Support from the Indonesian Embassy for the Trade Chain

In addition to attending business agendas, the management of Kantara Group held a special meeting with the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus, Jose Antonio Morato Tavares. The meeting highlighted opportunities to strengthen bilateral business relations, foster innovation exchange, and expand export-import services.

Ambassador Tavares warmly welcomed Kantara's initiative. "We fully support the exchange of technology and innovation between Indonesia and Russia. Indonesian technology should have a stage in Russia, and vice versa. This is what will make the bilateral relations between the two countries even stronger," he stated.

To execute this trade vision, Kantara Group involves PT ACSL Kantara Global Logistik. The company, operating in freight forwarding, warehousing, customs clearance, and logistics, is prepared to tap into RI-Russia export-import opportunities.

The Indonesian Embassy in Moscow also expressed its commitment to bridge access to the trade chain to ensure smooth business operations and create mutually beneficial cooperation between the two nations.

Kantara's strategic visit serves as a concrete manifestation of private sector support for President Prabowo Subianto's economic diplomacy vision, following his prior visit to Russia to reinforce the strategic partnership between the two nations. This proactive Business-to-Business (B2B) move aligns with the positive trend in RI-Russia economic relations, where bilateral trade value reached USD 1.876 billion in 2025, accompanied by realized investments reaching USD 262.8 million.
